“Live long and prosper”. Or so they say on the planet Vulcan. For the uninitiated, “Vulcan” is the imagined alien home of “Spock” from the original Star Trek television series. Writers imagined a world who’s highest blessing was long life and prosperity. Of course we can easily see that they projected our goals and values onto what we believe others would be searching for, as if “our desires are everyone’s desires”.

But isn’t that always the case.

I wonder today if you are looking for what God wants, or if you are projecting your goals on God. Does God want you to have long life and prosperity? Or is He aiming at something higher? A life of meaning and love, of dignity and value, of glory and goodness.
