Anno Domini- The Year of The Lord!
When Jesus once looked at the people of the world, He said we were like sheep without a shepherd. It’s true, we’re leaderless. We follow opinions, feelings, passions and culture- but how do we know if its right? We need a Leader- but not a leader with suggestions- We need a Lord. 2019 is the year to get Jesus back into the leadership position of our lives so that we follow His will and avoid the chaos of our blindness.

Jesus in January
Jan 20 - How to Cry out
Christmas is the most unbelievable story of Grace. God giving the undeserving world the most precious gift of all - His Son. And then Jesus giving all of His life so that we could become God’s children. Why? It’s so unexpected, so over-the-top, so not what we would do. But it’s the story of Christmas, how God solves the worlds problems through Grace. And what does He ask in return? Faith.
Dec 30- Grace- the trust. The “it doesn’t seem right” trust of Joseph
Dec 16- Grace- the search. The willing search by the Magi
Dec 9- Grace- the faith. The simplicity of Mary’s faith
On the 26th of January 1970 I became part of a family. We usually say it was our birth day but that is really only from our own perspective. To the people we are born to, we become part of a family. They are the ones who celebrate our birthdays. The same thing happens in Gods household- we are born into a family! discovering what that means is one of the journeys of faith. This month we are going to pull out the family album and discover our fit in the family God has placed us in.
November 25. No Longer Covered. Born into Acceptance. The family of God is the most healing place on earth- if… If we love each other. Our churches are communities of Grace so that we can put down our guard and know we will be accepted as we are.
November 18. No Longer Divided. Born into Harmony. All good parents set the boundaries for life inside the family, and they do it so that there is harmony and unity in the home, God’s family is just the same. Get the Picture?
November 11. No Longer Placeless. Born into an Identity. On a special remembrance day, 100 years from the end of the great war, we look at how the Nation of Australia found its identity through WW1 and how we discover who we are through others. Get the Picture?
Nov 4. No Longer Orphans. Born into a Family. When the Bible talks about the people of God the most common description is Family. We become connected to one another and our Father through Jesus. Get the Picture?
I was Made for this.
“In the beginning God...”- it’s the story of creation. But then God makes mankind, “In His own Image.” We are the ones that God made that also can make.
People often struggle with the confusion of knowing “Why am I here?, What is my purpose?” The struggle ends when we discover the fingerprints of God in our design and understand how we are individually crafted to make a difference. Or some say, “Design reveals Destiny”.
Oct 21. Purposefully Creating. Like little Gods in the world, we have the power to change things. We can create differences in the world like God does. After all we’re made in His Image.
Oct 14. Created on Purpose. We are no accident, we were made by design by a God who knows just what the world needs. Each of us have custom designed talents, passions and abilities that give us direction about what we are made to do in life.
Breaking Bad. Overcoming Spiritual Strong-holds.
We live in a world of things we can see, taste, touch, smell and feel. But there is more going on around us than those senses will tell us. We are being influenced by “the spiritual forces of this world” all the time- tempting us, tricking us, influencing us and steering us to places we don’t want to go. Jesus not only reveals those powers but teaches us to break their influence on our lives and live free to follow His Spirit in liberty and freedom!
Sept 30. Breaking Relationship Strongholds. Defeating the Divider and Binder. The Apostle Paul said, “the authority that the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.” 2Corinthians 13:10. We are given freedom in Christ so that we are not dominated by other people or controlled by their desires.
Sept 23. Breaking Religion. Defeating the power of the False Prophet. The Bible says, “If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— "Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch"...These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion …but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh. Col 2:20-23. Religion is man-centric and ultimately leads to bondage rather than freedom.
Sept 16. Breaking Babylon. Defeating the power of Mammon. Jesus said, "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. Matthew 6:24. Money is a terrible master and we need to live free from its corrupting influence on our choices.
Sept 9. Breaking Bad. Breaking Satanic Strongholds in our lives. Jesus said, “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy.” Luke 10:19. It’s time to take the authority we are given and crush the enemies influence on our lives.
Jesus once said, “If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.” What were the things? And why am I blessed if I do them? The Bible says there are many habits, that if we practice are not only good for others and the kingdom of God, but they leave us blessed as well. This month we are looking at a few of the disciplines that will bless our lives if we practice them.
August 19 The discipline of Prayer 1. Prayer isn’t easy. Not even a bit. If you’ve ever struggled to get a regular and steady prayer life- you’re in good company. Prayer is a discipline that must be practiced.
August 26 The discipline of Prayer 2. Jesus said, “My Father who sees (you pray) in secret will reward you.” What is the reward of prayer? Answered prayer? Calloused knees? A perfect life? Let's look at what we should expect from a life of prayer so that we aren’t discouraged by fluctuating results.
The Come- Back King
The Prophesy of the Book of Revelation.
Are we living in the end times? When will Jesus come back? Can you explain the book of Revelation? These questions and many like it recently were submitted in our “You asked for it!” series. There were so many I decided we needed to have a good look at the book of Revelation so that we can understand God's message in this amazing picture of Jesus who-is-never-beaten and will always come back.
July 22 The Come-Back King. The third theme of the book of Revelation is the inevitable return of Jesus to claim His rights and bring this age to an end. For those who follow Jesus it means glory and honour, for those that lived like He would never return it means the loss of everything.
July 15 The Consequences of the King. The second theme of the book of Revelation is the cost of following our new King and the consequences of rebelling against Him. It goes very badly for those who refuse Him, but it also means tribulation for those who do.
July 8. The Coronation of the King. The first theme of the book of Revelation is the presentation of Jesus as “King of Kings”. The One who through His death and resurrection has been crowned Lord of this world. This reality has changed the power dynamics of the world.
