It’s Life Jim, but not as we know it
...
October 2008
...
Spock peers into the illuminated scanner as it searches into the unknown. Life. The search for life. Boldly going where no one has gone before. But it wasn’t into the reaches of space that Life went, but into our world and into our space came the man from heaven - Jesus. “In Him was Life” the Bible says, but what kind of life? And how can we get His “real” Life? And would we really believe the carpenter from Nazareth?
In My Fathers House
...
September 2008
...
Jesus said, “I go to prepare a place for you …” Do you have a “place”? A place where nothing else matters, where everything is okay. A place where you are valued and loved and secure. A place you can really call home. This month we are considering what “place” Jesus has made for us in His Fathers' house, and how being with Jesus brings us into that place.
The Dark Side of the Moon
...
August 2008
...
We only ever see one side of the moon. Likewise we see the past and the present very clearly, but the future is a mystery. But God sees the dark side of the moon and He sees the future. And this is the most amazing thing … He shares what He knows with us.
Conflicts in Following Jesus
...
July 2008
...
The Holy Spirit is given to us to be able to follow Jesus. The scriptures say that those “who are led by the Spirit are the Children of God” (Romans 8:14). Sounds simple, but somehow we make it incredible complicated - why? How can we deal with all the things that complicate Gods leading and guidance? How do we interpret and understand Gods voice and apply it before it gets tangled up or drowned out by every other noise?
The Gift of the Spirit
...
June 2008
...
What is the most real and tangible work of the grace of God in our lives?- The Holy Spirit who lives within us. The Spirit gives us power, help, counsel, teaching, guidance, confidence…. The list goes on and on. He gives us His Holy Spirit to connect with Him, and baptizes us with the power of the Spirit to live the life Jesus lived. Are we living in that power? Gods will is for us to be “filled with the Spirit.”
Gideon discovers the power of Grace
...
May 2008
...
Lessons from the Feller. Gideon discovers the power of Grace. Gideon is a well known character from the Old Testament. Picked from obscurity he leads his people into a new season of prosperity, faith and fruitfulness. But before He can do the unthinkable he must learn about the true power of Grace. God is there to help him and us today.
Grace Anatomy
...
April 2008
...
The body of Christ is … well, a body. Made up of all sorts of different parts thrown together by God’s wise planning. But. But how can we work together? How can we get along? How can we help each other? Grace. The grace of God needs to flow through us to unify us, build us, and heal us.
Sunday’s Child
...
March 2008
...
Sundays child is full of grace. Fortunately who we are and what we can become is not limited to what day of the week we are born on. Grace is something we all can experience and be impacted by everyday. Have you lost touch with the Grace of God in your life? Has life become hard work and consequences? Maybe its time to become Sundays child.
To Confront the Community with the Image of Jesus
...
February 2008
...
This is the vision God has given to His church. We believe that God wants people to meet Jesus because it is through Jesus people come into life and relationship with Him. In order for people to meet Jesus they must first hear about Him and see something about Him to begin their interest in Him. That’s our Goal, to make as many people like Jesus as we can and get those people into close contract with the world God loves. This month we are talking about how we are going to do that.

Desperate Encounters
...
December 2007
...
Longing. Longing for something. For healing, for help, for purpose, for answers, for love… Our hearts cry out for someone to come to our rescue, someone who can do what mankind cannot. Please God, send an answer. And Christ was born. This month we are looking at people who went to meet Jesus in desperate circumstances and how Jesus answers the cry of their hearts.
First Impressions: Blind Dates with Jesus
...
November 2007
...
They may never planned to meet Him, but they certainly had God all planned out. They knew exactly what God should say and do and, well, they were disappointed. Sometimes Jesus is not what we expect, won’t do what we say, won’t get with the program, won’t do anything to make us love Him. Why?
First Impressions: Politically Incorrect
...
October 2007
...
Beneath the surface of any society are hidden rules. Rules that define who we talk to, what we do or don’t say and who has value. There is no list, no law, but everybody knows the clean from the unclean. Jesus was a rule breaker and politically incorrect in thousands of ways, but he never cared. He was scorned for who he related to and how could it be that Jesus saw a deeper layer of hidden values?

On Becoming
...
August 2007
...
In Nazi occupied France during the second world war a group of young boys devoted to freeing their home land would march around as a group with a banner. The banner read, “Tremble Tyrants for we shall grow up!”. They knew that as children they were no threat to the Nazi’s, but they knew what that would become. Likewise if we are to change this world and help the hurting we need to grow up, become stronger, more mature, more wise, more able… more like Jesus. This month we are looking at the disciplines or training regime that Jesus used Himself. The evil of this world should tremble, for we shall grow up.
For This Cause
...
July 2007
...
Every hero needs a cause, there is none bigger than this. One Cause brought Jesus to earth. One cause made heaven invade earth. One cause saw the Son of God nailed to a torturous cross. The Gospel. The liberation of mankind from a life of death to a life of reconnection with God and His purpose for us all.
Breakfast of Champions
...
June 2007
...
Jesus said that mankind cannot truly live on bread alone, we need something more. If all you want to do is live a physical existence then maybe all you need is some bread. But we need something that gets us ready to truly live, something that fills more than our stomachs, something that changes us from anemic weaklings struggling through each day into heroes who fight evil and bring hope to the world. The Word of God, Jesus said, is the breakfast of champions.
The Legion of Superheroes
...
May 2007
...
No one saves the world on their own. One is easily discouraged and defeated. So God made us to be a body. But why? And how are we supposed to be helping each other? What is the idea behind churches, congregations, and Sunday worship? Let's find out Gods genius behind the plan called church and how it equips us to keeping fighting the evil around us.
A Heroes Secret Strength
...
April 2007
...
We cannot do this alone. Our hearts may break for the hurting, our indignation may cause us to throw off our comforts, we may throw our energies and money into the fight. But we will not prevail in our own strength and power. Jesus teaches us through His own life that we link good works to prayer to see eternal results, to keep us close to our Father, to give us unseen energies, and to guide and direct our plans.
The Generous Generation
...
March 2007
...
The hallmark of a hero is that she/he gives of themselves sacrificially for others. So for to us to live as heroes we need to learn to live as generous hearted people. Proverbs says “guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life” (Proverbs 4:23). This means that the flow of our lives comes from the spring of our hearts. Its time to renew our hearts, so we can live the life of a hero
Quest for Scattered Heroes
...
February 2007
...
The sun rises on yet another day in this troubled world. Today more people will be hurt. Today more hearts will shrivel up. Today more people will look to the heavens and cry out for help. Will there be an answer? Who will answer? God is looking for heroes. It says in Exodus 3:7, “I have seen the misery of my people…I have heard them cry out… I am concerned about their suffering.” But how does God rescue His people? Through a man. A man who beyond belief became a hero. God is calling for more.

Child of Prophesy

December 2006

Everything about Jesus' birth was lodged in an ancient plan. Many of these details were revealed through prophets long before His birth. These prophesies are proof who He is and what He came to do. Let's examine the plan God laid down for Christmas and why it was so important.
Signed Sealed and Delivered
...
November 2006

In the second letter to Corinth we find out that, “you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.” 2 Corinthians 3:2 CEV. We have the touch of the Spirit of God in our lives and we are the living message of Gods Word. We have been signed, sealed and delivered by Gods own Spirit.

(The Privileged position of putting things right in the World)
When the Spirit comes He empowers us to live out our new identity as children of God. Everything He enabled Jesus to do for us, He enables us to do for others as well. We can inherit everything that Jesus has done for us and bring it to others as well. As children of God we now have the Spirit's power to help make things right.

You may be faced with some hard realities, but when the Spirit comes ... You may be in serious pain, but when the Spirit comes ... You may not know what to do, but when the Spirit comes ... Your life may be a write off, but when the Spirit comes ... The Spirit comes to make new, to change everything, to give life, to bring freedom, to help us create something new.
Led by the Spirit
...
August 2006
...
Life is lived in a forward direction, no one knows this more than God Himself. So He gives us His Spirit to guide us forward in life, making the right choices, helping us in our weaknesses and using us to heal a world full of people God loves. Let's look at the key ingredients of being led by the Spirit of God as He moves us forward in life and as a church.
When the Spirit Comes
...
July 2006
...
Something wonderful is about to happen. I can just imagine Jesus talking to His disciples, explaining to them that He would soon depart. That knowing look in His eye as He looked at them- soon they will receive the gift He had long promised. Soon, The Spirit will come, then everything will change. Wait for the Holy Spirit ...
Faith to Follow
...
June 2006
...
Like it or not, it takes faith to follow Jesus. Jesus constantly re-enforced the importance of faith to His disciples. However, as humans we seem to turn away from faith like a car will a bad alignment. We don't like the uncertain, uneasy, uncomfortable feeling of believing in something we can't see. Let's look at how we can grow in our faith, trusting Jesus for the most important areas of our lives.
Da Jesus Code
...
May 2006
...
Despite what the Beatles said, Jesus is still the most famous person in history. From day one people opinions and ideas about Jesus have become some of the hottest gossip topics around. But how can we find the real Jesus under all that rumor and intrigue? This month lets search for the Real Jesus, He may turn out to be even more than you imagined.
Step One
...
March 2006
...
They say that a journey of a thousand paces begins with the first step. But in truth the journey begins with faith. God has plans for each one of us, a dream or a vision for our lives. He works constantly to move us into alignment to that plan and encourages us to trust Him and remain faithful to His plan no matter what goes on around us. Let's look at the Story of Joseph to see what we can learn about following God's call in faith.
What if?
...
April 2006
...
The imagination is a very powerful tool for faith. We can imagine almost anything. Through this tool we can discover what could have been, what is, and what might be to come. So this Easter season we are going to play the "what if" game ... What if Jesus hadn't died? What if Jesus hadn't risen? What if Jesus hadn’t remained faithful? And then ask ourselves how our lives will be "if" we take in all that Jesus did for us on the cross.
Worth It
...
February 2006
...
If you only had one life to spend and you could never get it back, you'd want to spend it on something important wouldn't you. But how would you tell what is good from what only seems good? Thankfully, every life that Jesus buys back from death He gives the opportunity to follow Him in His mission. According to Him, His plan, His mission is the only mission worth living, the only way to keep us from wasting our lives.

Introducing God
...
October 2005

Jesus said that “eternal life is knowing God and His Son Jesus Christ”. (John 17:3). Life, real life, eternal life, spiritual life doesn’t begin until we have new life given to us by God Himself. Vive La Resistance

We could all write books about how bad things are in the world. So Jesus pulls us out of the crowd and makes us into change agents. Like the superheroes of comic book lore, we are challenged to make a difference, to fight evil, to defend the weak, to live a good life that brings good and the touch of God to our world.
Blessed are

The Merciful - No one needs to tell us about the cold cruel world we live in. It's kill or be killed, look out for number one. So if the world is made for tough people, why did Jesus say that the blessed ones are the merciful? Let's look at the deep truth behind living with the standard of mercy.
The Pure in Heart - The scriptures ask, “Who can ascend to the mountain of the Lord? And then it answers, “Only those with clean hands and a pure heart.” (Psalms 24:3,4). So much of the Bible is instruction on how to be close to God, first outwardly and then inwardly. What is your attitude towards purity of heart? How do we get revived to set our hearts right again?

In this world, fame and praise is heaped on the strong, the talented, and the good looking. However, God placed the highest value on being lowly, humble and teachable and opens the door of His kingdom to the poor and weak. This one change of attitude will unlock our past, present and future.
Between Two Worlds
...

It's quite clear that the world that we live in is broken, but its surprising how much is broken and how deep does that brokenness goes. Faith is that special ability to actually be convinced and absolutely certain that something we cannot yet see or experience will definitely happen. It is much more than mere wishing or hoping. It is a certainty.

Let`s approach these messages with open hearts and minds - ready to receive from God!
Cultures in Collision
...
June 2004
...
This month we are going to tackle two very important subjects. These two subjects exist powerfully in our modern world and run directly contrary to Gods plan for our lives, yet because they are so prominent they infect our thinking on many levels. The first is the worlds view and constant preaching on the subject of sex and sexuality. The second in the more pervasive and subtle influence of consumerism. This month let's turn our thoughts to Gods perspective on these important and tricky subjects.

Let's look at how God guides us through healthy, life-giving change to meet the times we live in.

A criminal, hanging on the cross he was dying on, looked to Jesus in the middle. "Remember Me", he said, and mouthed the words of hope in his heart. Will God remember me, will He take care of my need, is God watching over me? Ironically, it was the same words Jesus said to His disciples. Giving them the bread and the wine of communion, telling them that He was to die for their sins, and would only be with them for a short time. "Remember Me", think about me, in your busy lives- remember God. In this lead up to our Easter celebration we will look at those twin truths. Remember Jesus, His sacrifice--and-- Know that God remembers us in our time of need.
