God's Amazing Promise

Why do I need His promise?
The Bible says, "For all have sinned and fall short of God's glory" (Romans 3:23) Basically it means we have left God. In our hearts and our actions, we have turned away from a loving, trusting relationship with Him to follow our own ways, plans and desires.

What happens to those who leave God?
The Bible says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus." (Romans 6:23) This going our own way has left us outside of Gods life, and without His life we have no eternal life or a relationship with Him. However, God has made a gift of His Son Jesus to us. Jesus lived a perfect life to prove who He was so that everyone would know that God was doing something for people. Having proved who He was, He gave His life on the cross, dying for our sins, then Gods worked and raised Him from the dead- again showing who Jesus was. This happened so the full "debt" our sins had brought against us was paid in full in Gods accounts, and we would no longer be held back from Him by our sins.

Why did God do that?
The Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in His will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16). God loves you, and desperately wants to show you His love, forgiveness, and give you real life.

How do I receive Gods Gift?
The Bible says, "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9) All the work for you to come back into relationship with your loving heavenly Father has been done. God has done it all for you and made a promise to you that if you believe in your heart all He said, He will forgive your sins and give you His life. It's His promise, His Words, His guarantee. All completely done.

Its as easy as a prayer.
The Bible says, "To all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12) To return to God and receive His gift all you need to do is believe and ask to receive. There is a prayer to follow, but the words are not as important as the heart of the person who's praying them. When you're ready, when you know you need Gods help and want to rely on His promise and believe that He has done everything to save and forgive you, then pray this prayer:

"Dear Father in Heaven,

I believe that you gave your Son Jesus to die on the cross for my sins and raised him from the dead. I know that I am a sinner and I am asking you now to forgive me and to give me your free gift of life. Please come into my heart and life and help me to live in a new relationship with you. Thank you for giving me new life. Help me to do what you want, lead me to know You more.

Amen."
